This project is a unique and large-scale endeavor located in a rural zone within the Fairfield Council of Sydney, NSW. The Architectural design of this residential home is unique yet so extraordinary that the construction has taken more than two years before completion.

The project spans across a total site area of 11,000 m2, with a building area of 907.45 m2. It comprises a subfloor, a ground floor, and a roof attic structure. The site naturally slopes to the rear of the site, which creates difficulties for structural design, but architecturally, it is almost a treat for the brilliant architect to expand all of his creativity and make the most out of the building spaces. This beautiful grand design has everything from an infinity swimming pool to a private theater, from a raked 6.5-meter living and dining area to a guest house or grandmother flat. Everything blends in so well with each other to offer the best of luxury living at the heart of South Western Sydney.

In this project, we applied strip footing and stepped footing to create a full perimeter surrounding the building, which allows the face brick walls to be built on and continue throughout the design.

Internally, mass concrete piers are introduced up to 2.0m into the solid ground at a square grid to allow a square masonry column to be built upon to support the Bondek slab. Later on, this sub-floor area could be utilized as storage, which could be very useful if someone has a big family with a lot of kids.

Where dirt retention is required and the aesthetic standard is not too high, we apply 200 Dincel wall to accelerate the speed of construction and create a waterproofing barrier to the usable area.

During construction, there were a few changes to the original design, which we quickly addressed by putting in a hybrid system made of brick columns and reinforced concrete beams to support the slab structure while keeping the limit of deflection and ultimate capacity in line with Australian standards like AS3600:2018 and AS/NZS 1170.2:2011.

The roof, as one of the most important parts of a house, serves as protection against the elements. Structural engineers ensure compliance with requirements for weather resistance, strength, stability, fire resistance, and thermal insulation. In this project, both sloping and flat roofs are present. To support the larger spans, steel lintels, steel beams, and steel posts have been utilized.

These solutions have been designed to prioritize safety while optimizing costs by minimizing the amount of structural material used. Furthermore, they meet architectural requirements and ensure long-term efficiency. By optimizing the structural system, the project achieves not only safety but also reduces material usage and future operating costs.
